A bookstore specialising in humanities, literature and the arts with over forty years of experience and personalised service in the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample district.
In addition to stocking carefully selected new releases and an extensive collection of books on literature, philosophy, social sciences, history, art, architecture, cinema and music, as well as publications aimed at children and young adults, it also offers a strong cultural programme: book presentations, talks, courses and workshops on reading and writing, as well as different versatile spaces that can be hired for cultural events, presentations, talks and celebrations.

We’re currently the leading manager of bookstores and cultural shops in Spain and work together with 24 public and private institutions to manage 34 establishments located in Barcelona, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Zaragoza, Granada, Seville, Valencia, Santander, Toledo, Malaga and Palma. We also collaborate in the production and conceptualisation of cultural articles for museums around the world.

Our history
The first Laie bookstore was opened in 1980 on the street known as Pau Claris, an international humanities bookstore that broke the mould in Barcelona at the time. From day one, it was much more than just somewhere to buy books: it became a cultural landmark, a place for people to get together and talk that shaped how we see literature, art and the city of Barcelona.
This cultural vocation, combined with meticulous editorial selection and a high-quality service, soon attracted Spain’s foremost museums, entrusting us with the management of their bookstores and shops.
Since then, our journey has been guided by the same commitment: to balance our business goals with our cultural aims, offering collections that enrich the experience of each visitor and bring knowledge to all kinds of people, regardless of where they come from, their economic status or cultural background.
This vision has enabled us to grow financially and to develop a fully international approach without losing the pioneering spirit that defined our origins: to be a bridge between art, knowledge and society.
